Jim Beam is a brand of bourbon whiskey produced in Clermont, Kentucky by Beam Suntory.

Since Jim Beam’s establishment, seven generations of the Beam family have been, involved in whiskey production. Retired Master Distiller Jerry Dalton (1998–2007) was the first non-Beam to be Master Distiller at the company, and his successor was a member of the family. In January 2014, it was, announced that Jim Beam would be, purchased by Suntory Holdings Ltd., a Japanese group of brewers & distillers known for producing Japan’s first whiskey.

Bourbon whiskey distillers must follow government measures for production. US law states that any “straight” bourbon Whiskey must be: drafted in the U.S; made of a grain blend of at least 51% corn. Distilled at no greater than 160 proof (80% Alcohol By Volume). Must be free of any additives. Must be aged in new, burned white oak barrels. Entered into the ageing barrels at no higher than 125 proof (62.5% Alcohol By Volume), aged for at least two years, and bottled at no less than 80 proof (40% ABV).
